feisty weekend

I’ve been really bad at keeping up with myself lately.  Summer’s halfway done, and we’ve been busy having fun outdoors….which means my lowly little blog’s been suffering.  One thing begs mention, though.  A couple of weekends ago, the whocares gals (translation: friends of Caron) gathered in the Big O for a couple of days of simple fun, laughter, good food, great conversation, home-grown talent show, falafel, and Feist.  I cannot put words to how good this was for my soul!  Getting out of my daily grind, getting back in touch with ME (without the trappings of kids, marriage and other housewifely duties) again was so refreshing.  It felt like comfort food for my insides, like cold water poured over my brain and awakening it again to things outside these four walls.  The pictures don’t do it justice.  That’s Alicia over there as Napoleon Dynamite, winning our little talent show (I did a reading of the classic tongue twister, Fox In Socks).  We picnicked at the free Feist concert outdoors (including beautiful low-tech projections!), had a great breakfast discussion about politics, strummed banjos, and giggled on air mattresses and fold-out couches.  I came home happy and thankful…it must have been written all over my face, because Michael noticed.  Amen.  It’ll be none too soon when we do it again.
