ren-o-vate

Our bathroom is atrocious. Or, at least, it was. Anybody who’s been here knows it’s the weak spot. Last year, we removed the awful wallpaper (note to homeowners: NEVER wallpaper a bathroom! especially if there’s no exhaust fan!), and found pepto-bismol colored plaster underneath. Ugh. I wish I had taken a picture of it, it was truly awful! We also had a leaky toilet that needed to be replaced, so we did that this summer. This month, we figured we had to spackle, and eventually just covered the walls in joint compound, then sanded, primed and painted. Here are a few pictures from bare, unsanded walls to the gorgeous blue-grey we painted them:

Cross that off the to-do list!

Yowza…looks great. You guys did an awesome job. If a marriage can survive remodeling, it can survive anything. 🙂

  2. Evie says:

Looks good, Lindsay. Blue is always a good choice. Hey, why are you still on the computer? You’ve been on it all day! :0)

  3. Becky says:

    looks great!
our bedroom is very close to the same color. It’s very calming! 🙂

Looks super! I agree with Lori– remodeling, urg. Especially with kids. I should hire you guys to do our upstairs bath. Purple walls. Faux marbled green-blue stick-on floor “tiles” and someone painted funny little lavendar flowers on our plastic outlet covers. Why have we not done something about this after living in our house for 3 years?

  5. the youngs says:

yoooooo, cheryl, that sounds awful! we have peel-and-stick tiles that are getting replaced too. we’ve found super deals at Lowe’s in the pre-cut vinyl flooring (usually 8’x10′ rolls for around $75).

OR, you should check out your local ReStore! google it. there’s one in Omaha, too – near south O, i think. it’s run by habitat for humanity, and there are tons of new ceramic tiles that you can buy for a fraction of the cost of new.

it’s funny what you’ll live with – when we first moved in, i remember saying, “THIS is the first thing we change!” two-plus years later, we’re just now getting to it. kids have a way of sloooowing things down a great deal. but seriously – flowers painted on the outlet covers? that’s somebody with too much time on their hands.

Hey it looks just like Pottery Barn – Nicely done my friend. Have we been through the remodeling mess or what! Its a great thing to be scratching it off the to do list!

  7. Evie says:

I noticed that all your bathroom trim is white. What if you painted the trim on your mirror to match?

  8. lindsay says:

shouldn’t you be in class? YES, painting the mirror white is next on the list. 🙂
