One of the reasons I love this time of year is because folks pull out all the stops in the kitchen – it’s a festive cream of the crop, foodwise. Every time you walk into a home at Christmastime, you know you’re getting their very best.

I’m not a foodie, but I bet my friend, Annemarie, is. Girl knows what’s good. And while the rest of us are mixing up peppermint bark, she sets the bar much, much, higher. Last night, I received pistachio/cardamom/sea salt chocolate bark from her. This is one of those treats that I wish I could share with the whole world – everyone should enjoy a zinger of a combination like this. You cannot even imagine how crunchy, melty and savory this is. My tastebuds are whirling dervishes!

My brother, Cory, and Hannah were married yesterday. It was a beautiful wedding, a sunny winter’s day, and Hannah was a sparkling bride. My brother looked pretty spiffy, too. They are a lovely couple with a deep respect for one another.  I just love my new sister-in-law.  We were honored to have Reese serve as one of their flower girls. Hearty congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Lutterman!

You can see my pictures from the day here.

I had no idea what Boxing Day was (besides it being December 26th on my wall calendar), until just a couple of minutes ago. Do you? Read all about it. We’re celebrating by staying home and not retailing (even though the gift cards I got for Christmas are burning a hole in my pocket!), except for donating few bags of things to Goodwill.

hausSurrounded by family and love and warmth, I’m thinking of those who aren’t tonight…those out in the cold, physically or emotionally, and all the kids who won’t have a little something wrapped up for them in the morning.  I hope Jesus is close to them, warming sad hearts with His love tonight.  JOY to the world, no matter who you are. The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you.  The Lord Jesus lift up his countenance upon you, fill you with Himself this Christmas, and give you PEACE.

No more let sin and sorrows grow, nor thorns infest the ground!  He comes to make his blessings flow far as the curse is found!

He rules the world with truth and grace, and make the nations prove the glories of His righteousness and wonders of His love!

Happy Christmas from our home to yours, and God bless us, every one.

Michael’s Granny Nan died last week. This is for her. And for Cathy.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” – 2 Corinthians 4:16-17

“This is how God showed his love among us: he sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” – 1 John 4:9-10

“I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the war-horses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken.  He will proclaim peace to the nations.” – Zechariah 9:10

“For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.” – Colossians 1:20

“Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” Psalm 62:5-8

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf.” Hebrews 6:19-20
